Using Robotic Technology to Replace Injectable Medications

Using technology to improve the way drugs are administered for the many individuals that are diagnosed with conditions such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and multiple sclerosis, The Wall Street Journal reports that one inventor,  Mir Imran, is in the process of creating a robotic pill that uses the body’s own digestive process to administer medication.  For many chronic conditions necessary drugs can not be delivered in pill form because stomach acids break down the proteins; therefore, requiring the use of a syringe. Imran’s design, in a series of steps, would allow individuals to swallow a robotic pill where the needles push into the intestinal wall and then dissolve and pass naturally through the body’s system.
